Shaping Interpretation
the greatest human power
Hello all,
I am experimenting with the format of the great pond (for ponderings), to see how things play out. Thanks for sticking with me!

One of the most powerful skills that everyone has, is the ability to interpret. To interpret, is not only to understand, but to make a personal contextualization to new information. Everyone is learning everyday because the world is changing everyday, ever so slightly. It might look like a new encounter with a blue jay on the way to work, or maybe you spot Autumn’s first orange leaf. The leaf can be sign of Summer’s closure, making one feel sad. Though, another person can see it as a reminder of the forest leaves warming up in color, displaying a bright show to marvel at. The ability to familiarize the new with previous experiences is both a blessing and a curse, because it really depends on the scope of the context.
I walked in the rain a while back and I remembered it to be a horrible experience. As I walked up the stairs to my class, my shoes were squeaking against the trail of water droplets I created along my path. Though, when I look back, I miss how it felt to have individual drops of rain hit my face. It was cold for sure, but in a way, it was also oddly pleasant.
Book I’m Reading
The Problems of Philosophy by Bertrand Russell. This book has been quite an entertaining read, as it questions the existence of the world that we all experience. The book is a little bit old, so the text can get a bit tricky and as I find myself repeatedly reading some lines again, but the content is engaging. I enjoy the thought provoking questions that he raises.
New Art I’ve Made
I finished a 48-hour animation in a small studio with the kind folk at MassArt. I was in charge of the baby giraffe and contributed to some of the compositing work.
Here are a series of characters with a focus on their outfits. Many are direct copies of people I saw at a cafe, and some are taken of various sources on Pinterest.
I thank you for reading, and wish you a great week filled with much joy.
I look forward to seeing you all next Monday,
